Kunjachan and family is one of the most badly affected during recent floods in Kerala. His only means of livelihood is a small stationary shop where all the items were completely destroyed. He has had 4 heart attacks already, and also has issues with his prostrate requiring him to insert a tube while urinating. Kunjachan’s wife has high blood pressure and sugar, taking insulin injections every day. She is very sick and the family has to spend close to INR 10,000 for her treatment each month. His son, Arun got Brucella infection while cleaning their house after the floods and was hospitalised for a long time. He was discharged from the hospital forcibly for lack of funds. Arun is now visiting the hospital every 10 days since they don’t have money to get him admitted. Arun has a 6 month old baby; he hasn’t returned to work after the floods.

Kunjachan also lost a cow and calf during the floods. The family is living in a small house in 4.5 cents of land, and they also have a loan of Rs. 58,000 with co-operative bank. Currently, the family has absolutely no source of income. They approached MicroCharity for financial assistance in this dire situation.
