Kuttanad is one of the worst-affected areas in the recent floods and landslides in Kerala. Fr. Antony Pattaparambil, a parish priest in Kurichy personally surveyed these areas for damages. There are 23 houses that were partially damaged and 3 which were damaged completely. An important problem faced by the people in this area are damaged toilets. Many toilets were damaged beyond repair, and rendered completely unusable. There are many people living close-by and they are struggling with this basic need.

Fr. Antony has taken up the task of building 15 toilets at a cost of Rs. 30,000 each. These would be constructed outside the houses, but adjacent to them. Father has already identified a few families who are in urgent need, and initiated construction with the help of volunteers from the parish. It is too big a financial burden for them to fund fully. So MicroCharity is stepping in to join hands in this noble cause.
