Thomas was rushed to the hospital and they found that his thigh bone had two fractures. One surgery was completed urgently, and he is recovering. After observing him, they will decide whether he would need another surgery. Thomas stays with his wife and 2 children, Neethu and Nihil who are still in school. He was the sole breadwinner for their family, and they have no other source of income. Recently, they also lost the money they had paid as advance for a house since the deed was not proper. The family is now struggling to meet hospital expenses. The cost of surgery and treatment comes to Rs. 1,50,000. The family has arranged for Rs. 40,000 from friends and well-wishers, but that is not nearly enough to complete Thomas’ treatment. They approached MicroCharity for financial support.

He is studying in Adarsh Rehabilitation Centre, Tripunithura, Ernakulam - A Special school for the habilitation of children with Cerebral Palsy. His mother takes him to the school everyday. They rely on public transport to commute to the school. Also, the mother has to be with him throughout the school time. He is on medication for the last few years. Every month he is taken to a hospital for medical checkup.

Roby, a 45-year-old young man was working as a collection agent in a reputed bank, when tragedy struck in the form of liver disease. He has been suffering from chronic liver disease with portal hypertension for the past 2 years, and has to undergo liver transplantation at the earliest. The hospital has estimated Rs. 40 lakhs including surgery and post-surgical follow up. Roby is living with his mother, aged 81, a pensioner; and his wife, who is working as a lab technician in a hospital nearby. He has 2 young children aged 14 and 9 years. The family has no means of raising Rs. 40 lakhs required for treatment. They collected Rs. 15.15 lakhs through a public campaign, of which Rs. 10 lakhs is already deposited at the hospital as advance. They approached MicroCharity through our volunteers, for financial support.

62-year-old Rajan and his family is in dire need of our assistance. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer 2.5 years ago. He was treated at Amrita medical college where he had to spend a lot of money. He then went to Cochin Cancer research center at Kalamassery for chemotherapy and other treatments. The current treatment involves one injection per month for a year, each costing Rs. 25,000 at a total of Rs. 3 lakhs. Rajan was working as a manager in a hotel in Delhi. He came back to Kerala three years back and was staying in a rented house at Aluva. During the flood of 2018, he lost all his possessions. The family then shifted to a rented apartment at Kakkanad. Rajan’s wife is ill and cannot go for work. His daughter completed 12th grade and is working in a call center now. The only income for this family is his daughter’s salary, which is barely enough to cover their rent and daily expenses. The family is struggling to manage the injection costs and they reached out to MicroCharity for financial assistance.

She is also currently suffering from respiratory issues. The couple has 2 daughters who are already married but are in no position to support them. The family has no other means of income and no way to raise the Rs. 36,000 needed each month for medical treatment. So they approached MicroCharity for financial assistance.

Joy also has some heart-related complications. After the surgery, his mental health deteriorated, and he had to be admitted to a mental hospital near his house. The family is not able to keep him at home due to suicidal tendencies and violence.

26-year-old Josmy has been suffering from kidney failure for over 7 years. She had a kidney transplant at the age of 17, her mom being the donor. But after 3 years, the donated kidney failed. She has been undergoing dialysis thrice a week for the past few years while searching for another suitable donor. Currently, they found a donor, the crossmatch has been successful and other tests are going on for the transplant scheduled for next month. Josmy was a bright student, a fighter, and an optimist but years of treatment has made her very weak. Despite this, she faces the situation with a smile. She is from a very poor family and her father is a rickshaw driver. He has been finding money for all the dialysis, medications, and tests for several years with the help of a lot of kind souls. Josmy is now undergoing treatment at ASTER MIMS, KOZHIKODE, KERALA. The cost of the transplant and post-transplant treatment is around 12 lakhs. For a family that is struggling to find money for their day-to-day expenses, this amount is beyond what they can manage. So they reached out to MicroCharity for financial assistance.

Sheeja, a 35-year-old lady from Pathanamthitta, Kerala has more worries on her plate than she can take on by herself. Her daughter, Karthika passed away in December 2019 after a long battle with brain tumor. Medical expenses required the family to take multiple loans from banks and from other sources, but the little girl could not be saved. Sheeja is now living with her 11-year-old son, Karthik and her aged mother-in-law. Sheeja used to do some tailoring at home, and also supply snacks to neighbouring homes. But there is no fixed income, and the family is now struggling to take care of their expenses. They are staying in a rented house and paying the rent with help from well-wishers. She has a housing loan of 6 lakhs, a Rs. 50,000 loan from the society and also a few personal loans.Her son, Karthik is not well. Sheeja herself underwent a heart surgery some time back.

In the early hours of Sunday, March 1, a major fire incident affected the office of Archikites in Payyannur, a Website Design and training company run by Shanil who is a member Vijayee Bhava Batch (VB9). Hopefully, no one was hurt. But, the fire destroyed the entire 2200 square feet space. Shanil lost about 25 computers, other office equipments, and the interior of the office is damaged beyond repair. The net loss is estimated to be about 25 lakh rupees.

Till the doctors can complete an urgent kidney transplantation, he must undergo dialysis every day at a cost of Rs.6000 per day. He’s currently in the ICU at Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam. Amil had problems with his urinary bladder from birth and was undergoing regular scan and treatment. But 6 months ago, he had a sudden infection and both kidneys failed. Doctors have recommended a kidney transplantation at the earliest at a cost of Rs. 8 lakhs. His mother is the donor. The surgery was scheduled for 31st of December, 2019, but they could not do it since Amil got high temperature. Once he’s better, the surgery will be scheduled again. His family is not in a position to meet these hefty medical expenses, and approached MicroCharity through our volunteers.

She is the eldest of 6 children in a family that’s struggling to make ends meet, along with the education of the younger children. Thomas, her father is a daily wage worker and also does some farming to support his family.

Latha and her three children, aged 18,14 and 13 have gone through more misfortunes than most of us can imagine. Latha was working as a kitchen assistant in a hospital. But she suffered severe burns from a kerosene stove explosion, resulting in her leg being amputated eight years back. She has not been able to work since then, and is still in need of medication and treatment about a decade after the mishap. She is also allergic to most medications making it extremely difficult to treat even minor illnesses. Latha’s husband was working at a plantation. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and passed away in February 2018.

Joseph from Mundakkayam, Kerala is doing his BTech in Mechanical Engineering. He will be able to enter the final semesters of the course only if he remits the college fees on time. His family is struggling financially as his father is under treatment for Kidney failure. The only income the family has at the moment is his mother's pension which is not enough to meet the expenses.

Jainamma Joseph from Changanassery, Kerala has to face the heavy Kerala monsoons under a leaky roof. She’s single and living all by herself. She is also offering services as a counsellor at a retreat center close to her house. After Jainamma recovered from a very serious illness, she decided to dedicate her life to the Lord. She is currently living in a small house in 4 cents of land, constructed with help from the Panchayat and well-wishers.

MicroCharity has been supporting Merlina from 4th standard. In spite of many adverse condition like her father’s death, her mother’s inability to go to work, and living with her uncle who wanted them to move out, Merlina got decent marks in her 1st PUC examination. She’s in 2nd PUC now, and the family is in no position to pay the college fee.

“I realize that every mature tree by photosynthesis absorbs 20kg of CO2 every year. By the same process, each tree lets out about 14kg of O2 every year.”This is part of the environment oath taken by every member who planted a tree during this tree plantation drive. JCI Nalukody with support from Junior Jaycees, the children’s wing, organized a tree plantation drive on World Environment day. JCI took order from people for different fruit trees, by publishing on social media. Those who gave the order were supposed to have pits ready for planting trees in their compound. JCI members procured the saplings from nurseries and took them to these houses. They planted the trees together and also took an oath promoting awareness of environment protection and importance of trees.

Ms. Kochurani Mathew, Nalukody, Changanacherry is the only breadwinner of the family consisting of Husband and 2 sons.Her husband met with multiple accidents over last 3 years after which he is unable to work. She earns her living by undertaking small tailoring works at her home which is not enough for her to maintain the family. The two sons are brilliant students studying in class 11th & 12th, both of them were school toppers in their respective class 10th.

The Government UP School at Nalukody, Kerala has been providing education to children from financially backward and troubled families for the past 116 years. Though the school gets government aid, most of the infrastructure expenses need to be funded by the school itself. There is also a Kindergarten which is independent from the school, but is crucial since it serves as a feeder to the main school. This section does not get any government aid.Since the children are from poor families, the school has to provide everything from books, uniforms, bags, umbrellas and even their meals.

Joseph Mathew, from Kottayam, Kerala is in the Neuro ICU Ventilator at Pushpagiri Hospital Tiruvalla, in a coma state due to bleeding in the brain. He was admitted to the hospital on 7th May with weakness on one side of the body and deviation in the angle of his mouth. Doctors diagnosed intracerebral hemorrhage and has recommended an emergency surgery to save his life. Joseph was working as a mechanic in a 2-wheeler repair shop and is the only earning member of the family. His wife is a home maker and he also has two young daughters aged 13 and 8. The family has already spent Rs. 4 lakhs for his treatment, and is in no position to pay for this surgery. They approached MicroCharity for financial support.

Michael and Mercy Varghese from Changanassery in Kerala, need to repair their house urgently before the monsoons in Kerala. Aged 65 and 60, they are not able to work these days and are dependent on the government pension of Rs. 2500 per month. Michael was a daily wage worker earlier, but is not able to work anymore due to a heart condition.

Mercy Home is run by Sisters of the Destitute (SD Sisters), housing 20 children between the ages 5 – 18 years. They belong to CWC – Child Welfare Commitee, Thiruvanthapuram registered under the Juvenile Justice Act. These children are studying at St Ann’s and St Joseph’s Girls High School, Changancherry. The home is not getting any grant from the government, and the sisters are currently unable to afford school expenses of these children. A group of well-wishers from the surrounding areas and from their congregation join hands to support them with about Rs. 25,000 per month. But this is barely enough for their regular expenses.

36-year-old Sreekala Shibu from Veliyathunad, Kerala is suffering from gallstones and is under treatment at Lissie hospital, Kochi. Doctors have advised cholecystectomy surgery to remove these gall stones. The family is not in a position to spend the Rs. 80,000 needed for the surgery which has to be done by 28th March. They have already spent Rs.40,000 at Amrutha hospital, sold gold and taken loan from Vincent De Paul for her treatment.

19-year-old Jesna Emmanuel from Kerala has been suffering from cancer for the past 2 years. Doctors recommended a bone marrow transplant, but they have not been able to do it due to financial constraints.
