54-year-old Joy Antappan from Idukki, Kerala has been suffering from mental health issues for the past one year, following his father’s death. 3 months back, he had to undergo a major surgery to remove a growth from his stomach. Joy also has some heart-related complications. After the surgery, his mental health deteriorated, and he had to be admitted to a mental hospital near his house. The family is not able to keep him at home due to suicidal tendencies and violence.

Joy was working as a daily wage laborer before he fell ill. His wife was also working as a daily wage laborer; but she had to discontinue work after a leg injury. Their daughter is married, and son is working at a mechanic shop close by.
The family has 10 cents of land and some support for house construction from the Panchayat. But Joy’s medical expense of around Rs. 30,000 per month is too much for the family to bear. They are not able to finish the construction or meet their daily expenses. The family is running from pillar to post to find money for his treatment, and they approached MicroCharity for financial support.

Kidney Transplant for Josmy

26-year old Josmy has been suffering from kidney failure for over 7 years. She had a kidney transplant at the age of 17, her mom being the donor. But after 3 years, the donated kidney failed. She has been undergoing dialysis thrice a week for the past few years while searching for another suitable donor.

Currently, they found a donor, the crossmatch has been successful and other tests are going on for the transplant scheduled for next month. Josmy was a bright student, a fighter, and an optimist but years of treatment has made her very weak. Despite this, she faces the situation with a smile. She is from a very poor family and her father is a rickshaw driver. He has been finding money for all the dialysis, medications, and tests for several years with the help of a lot of kind souls.

Josmy is now undergoing treatment at ASTER MIMS, KOZHIKODE, KERALA. The cost of the transplant and post-transplant treatment is around 12 lakhs. For a family that is struggling to find money for their day-to-day expenses, this amount is beyond what they can manage. So they reached out to MicroCharity for financial assistance.

Sheeja, a 35-year-old lady from Pathanamthitta, Kerala has more worries on her plate than she can take on by herself. Her daughter, Karthika passed away in December 2019 after a long battle with brain tumor. Medical expenses required the
family to take multiple loans from banks and from other sources, but the little girl could not be saved. Sheeja is now living with her 11-year-old son, Karthik and her aged mother-in-law. Sheeja used to do some tailoring at home, and also supply snacks to neighbouring homes. But there is no fixed income, and the family is now struggling to take care of their expenses. They are staying in a rented house and paying the rent with help from well-wishers. She has a housing loan of 6 lakhs, a Rs. 50,000 loan from the society and also a few personal loans.Her son, Karthik is not well. Sheeja herself underwent a heart surgery some time back. But to take care of their expenses, she now wants to start a textile shop. They have already shortlisted a shop for Rs. 10,000 rent per month. She also needs to get some cloth materials for Rs. 40,000. This family desperately needs our help to stand on their feet after their massive loss.

Nimal is paralysed from waist down. The tragedy hit her about 10 years ago when she was studying in 12th grade. She had a fever and during the treatment the doctor administered a wrong injection which made her paralyzed from waist down. A hip replacement surgery was done to make her walk, but that made her condition worse. They have very little land which is mortgaged for her treatment. The family is unable to repay the loans as they have to spend on the treatment. She had a tumour in uterus and she had to go through a hysterectomy. Now she is also suffering from kidney stone problems.

In the early hours of Sunday, March 1, a major fire incident affected the office of Archikites in Payyannur, a Website Design and training company run by Shanil who is a member Vijayee Bhava Batch (VB9).

Hopefully, no one was hurt. But, the fire destroyed the entire 2200 square feet space. Shanil lost about 25 computers, other office equipments, and the interior of the office is damaged beyond repair. The net loss is estimated to be about 25 lakh rupees.

Martina from Bangalore, India needs our help in completing her PU course. Her father is a drunkard who does not look at the family. He comes home drunk late at night most days, causing a lot of nuisance to the family. Most of the days, they all have to go and seek shelter at a convent close by to escape the violence at home. Her mother, Elezabaeth is working as a helper at a factory nearby earning Rs. 6000 per month.

Martina completed her 1st year PU with help from the nuns at the convent, and few other well-wishers. The nuns also advised her to move into a hostel so that she would not be troubled by her father’s behavior. Course fee for second year PU is Rs.25,000 and hostel fee comes to Rs. 40,000. Kidney Transplantation for Amil

14-year-old Amil has more worries and pain in life than any normal teenager can imagine. He is suffering from kidney failure and both his kidneys have been removed. Till the doctors can complete an urgent kidney transplantation, he must undergo dialysis every day at a cost of Rs.6000 per day. He’s currently in the ICU at Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam.

Amil had problems with his urinary bladder from birth and was undergoing regular scan and treatment. But 6 months ago, he had a sudden infection and both kidneys failed. Doctors have recommended a kidney transplantation at the earliest at a cost of Rs. 8 lakhs. His mother is the donor. The surgery was scheduled for 31st of December, 2019, but they could not do it since Amil got high temperature. Once he’s better, the surgery will be scheduled again. His family is not in a position to meet these hefty medical expenses, and approached MicroCharity through our volunteers.

Kidney Transplantation for Amil

14-year-old Amil has more worries and pain in life than any normal teenager can imagine. He is suffering from kidney failure and both his kidneys have been removed. Till the doctors can complete an urgent kidney transplantation, he must undergo dialysis every day at a cost of Rs.6000 per day. He’s currently in the ICU at Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam.

Amil had problems with his urinary bladder from birth and was undergoing regular scan and treatment. But 6 months ago, he had a sudden infection and both kidneys failed. Doctors have recommended a kidney transplantation at the earliest at a cost of Rs. 8 lakhs. His mother is the donor. The surgery was scheduled for 31st of December, 2019, but they could not do it since Amil got high temperature. Once he’s better, the surgery will be scheduled again. His family is not in a position to meet these hefty medical expenses, and approached MicroCharity through our volunteers.
